The Ethical model for the equities and corporate fixed-interest parts of the portfolio is a sustainability matrix providing information on social and environmental impacts of a companies activities. The matrix accounts for the sustainability of the industry itself and the sustainability of the company relative to its sector peers (the latter being a positive 'best in class' approach).
The methodology also rules out certain activities as being unsustainable (a negative screening approach).
Additionally, in the fixed-interest proportion of the fund, issuing countries are assessed with a sustainability rating by reviewing the impact of policy on society and the natural environment. The ratings system also judges a governments' efficiency at translating available economic performance into quality of life (Sustainability efficiency).
